HOT BOYS CRY

Welcome to GOOD NEWS FOR MEN. I’m James Routledge and JACK is a platform to evolve the conversation around men and masculinity. We shine a light on good men and raise up positive male role models.
GOOD NEWS FOR MEN 💪🏼
Hot Boys Cry. This emotional brand from Berlin is rebranding vulnerability for men. We all know that men showing emotion is a good thing for mental health. However, it’s still rare for men to do so. Men being vulnerable has become acceptable, but still not easy - with brands like this emerging. Could men expressing their emotions become…cool? Even, sexy?
A scroll through the comments on the brands instagram page shows that men are clearly jumping on board - creating the brand, wearing it and shaping it. But, it’s women who are cheering on loudly from the sidelines. With claims of how sexy vulnerability is and lots of emojis. If women fancy emotionally sensitive men, will this play a further part in encouraging more men to exhibit these qualities too?
The UKs Centre for Policy Research on Men is born. Richard Reeves the Author behind Of Boys and Men has birthed a little brother to the American Institute for Boys and Men, in the UK. The mission is to to produce high-quality, non-partisan research on the challenges facing men and boys, and advocate for effective solutions, in a non zero-sum manner. If you want deep insight and analysis on men and boys - this is the place to go.
Movember shares report on young men’s health in a digital age. Focusing on masculinity influncers - my key takeaway - the messages around masculinity and what is expected of men on social media are extremely one dimensional and very “old-school”. We need more diverse perspectives and to understand the situations young men might find themselves in to find this stuff compelling.
Get a Little Deeper with Two Pints Deep. “A monologue of truth visually hidden within the words ‘I’m fine’.” This billboard from suicide prevention charity, Two Pints Deep is going live in 3 cities over the next 6 weeks.
The UKs Largest Ever Dad Friendly Play Date for Fathers Day. After throwing a family friendly New Years Eve party for 1200 people, Dan Flanagan is now at it again throwing the UKs biggest playdate for Dads at the Premier League’s largest fanzone.
Wearing a Baby Carrier Changes Your Brain. A scientific study has shown that when Dad’s carry their baby in a soft baby carrier, it enhances their amygdala response to the baby crying. This shows that fathers can develop paternal sensitivity that mirrors behaviours typically shown by mothers. The amygdala is a key part of the brain for emotional processing, threat detection, and caregiving. Could becoming a more active parent be another way for men to change and grow? Yes, by the looks of it.

Hi James, I'd love to get involved in the Men’s Workplace Advocates Group Tomorrow. I've tried replying to your email newsletter and reaching out on Linkedin, but not heard anything. Could you advise how to get involved in this please? 🙏🏻
